From ship deck to filling
Researchers from the University of Oregon have developed a composite material based on thiourethane, which is used in protective coatings for ship decks and automobiles.

Scientists claim that the new composite is twice as strong as conventional fillings. It is complemented by a superglue based on a methacrylamide polymer that bonds the filling to the tissues. Laboratory experiments have proven that it is 30% more resistant to water and harmful oral bacteria than traditional counterparts.
