Dental Implantation in Almaty: Prices, Types of Implants, Stages, and Reviews

We restore the whole tooth: a titanium root in place of the lost one, plus a crown matched to the neighboring teeth. We plan the surgery using a cone-beam CT scan, so the implant goes where there is enough bone. The exam and a written plan with the price are 0 ₸, 0% installments — Jusan bank up to 24 months, Kaspi — 12. The implant placement itself takes about 20 minutes. The visit is longer: before surgery — the scan and planning, after — a follow-up exam.

How it works

What an implant is and what the work involves

Implantation is two different procedures: surgical and prosthetic. They are performed by different doctors and are separated by several months.

A titanium root instead of your own

An implant is a titanium screw 8–13 mm long. It is screwed into the jawbone in place of the root. Over three to six months, the bone grows into the rough titanium surface — this is called osseointegration. After that, the implant bears the load no worse than your own root.

Healing abutment, abutment, and crown

After healing, a healing abutment is screwed into the implant — it shapes the gum contour so the crown emerges naturally from under it. Then an abutment is placed — the connector between the implant and the crown. The zirconia crown is made from a digital impression and matched to the color of the neighboring teeth.

Why this is more cost-effective than a bridge

A three-crown bridge is cheaper at the start, but it requires grinding down two healthy teeth, and after 8–10 years they usually need treatment or crowns as well. An implant is placed in its own spot and does not touch the neighboring teeth. If the crown chips, only it is replaced — the titanium part stays.

What is included in the turnkey price

The price includes the implant, healing abutment, screw-retained crown, the work of the surgeon and prosthodontist, and sutures. Bone grafting and sinus lift — which not everyone needs — and follow-up examinations are calculated separately; the doctor tells you about this right after the scan.

How dental implantation in Almaty works

From the first X-ray to the permanent crown takes three to six months. Between visits, you live your normal life — with a temporary crown if the tooth is in the smile zone.

Consultation: doctor and patient at a screen with an X-ray — illustration for the "Diagnostics and Treatment Planning" section
Step 01

Diagnostics and planning

The first stage is examination and computed tomography. Based on the images, the doctor draws up a treatment plan, selects the implant system, and determines whether bone grafting is needed.

The surgeon places a dental implant
Step 02

Implant placement

Surgical stage: a titanium root is placed under local anesthesia. The operation takes about an hour. After it, sutures are placed, and the healing period begins.

Step 03

Healing and gum former

A few months later, once the implant has healed, a gum former is placed. This allows a natural gum contour to be created around the future crown.

Follow-up visit: the dentist checks the result with a mirror while the assistant holds the saliva ejector — illustration for the section "Crown placement"
Step 04

Crown placement

After the gum heals, impressions are taken and a permanent crown is made. It is fixed onto the implant, and the patient gets a fully functional tooth.

The warranty means free redoing or replacement of the work at the clinic's expense; the term and conditions are written in the treatment contract.

What the all-inclusive price covers

For us, "turnkey" means the implant, the surgery with anesthesia and sutures, the gum former, the abutment and the permanent crown. Follow-up exams during the healing period are included in the price. Bone grafting and sinus lifting are not needed by everyone: if they are needed, the doctor names them before treatment begins, not along the way. Implant placement without the crown — 153,000 ₸: about 6,400 ₸ per month with a 24-month Jusan installment plan. There is no overpayment if payments are made on time. The administrator helps you submit the application in the bank's app right at the clinic.

How does implantation differ from other prosthetic methods?

When a tooth is lost, there are several ways to restore the row. Implantation stands out because it replaces the root. Other methods rely on adjacent teeth or the gums.

When implantation is the justified choice

Implantation is justified when a person wants to avoid grinding down healthy teeth and to obtain stable support for a crown. The method is suitable for a single defect when the adjacent teeth are intact, and for a distal defect when a bridge is not possible. Complete edentulism is also treated with implantation supported by several posts. But the decision depends on the clinical picture: the doctor assesses bone volume, the condition of the mucosa, and general health. With insufficient bone tissue, augmentation may be needed. If there is inflammation or uncompensated diseases, preparation is carried out first. In some situations, for example with severe periodontitis or when surgery is not possible, it is more reasonable to choose a bridge or a removable restoration. The final method is determined by the dentist after diagnosis, and it will be different for each patient.

How to choose an implant for posterior and anterior teeth

The choice of implant depends on the area being restored. Posterior teeth bear heavy loads, while anterior teeth are important for aesthetics. Let's look at the criteria for each group.

Specifics for the posterior group

  • Diameter and length: wide implants are selected for molars and premolars to withstand chewing pressure.
  • Connection type: models with a strong conical connection resistant to loads are preferred.
  • Material: titanium or zirconia — both options are suitable, the choice depends on the clinical picture.
  • Bone tissue: if there is not enough volume, bone grafting may be required, but the doctor decides after diagnostics.
  • Manufacturer: the brand affects cost and availability, but does not guarantee osseointegration — it depends on the body.

Specifics for anterior teeth

  • Aesthetics: the shape of the gum contour and the color of the crown are important so that the implant is invisible.
  • Thin profile: narrow implants are chosen for incisors to preserve adjacent tissues.
  • Abutment material: zirconia abutments are lighter than titanium ones, which prevents show-through through the gum.
  • Position: the implant is placed with the future smile in mind, sometimes at a slight angle.
  • Temporary crown: in the smile zone, a temporary crown is often placed during healing, but this depends on the treatment plan.

What equipment is used in the clinic

The precision of implantation depends on the equipment. The clinic uses technology that helps plan and control every stage. Let's go over the main devices.

Diagnostic equipment

  • Cone beam CT: provides a three-dimensional image of the jaw, allows assessment of bone volume and nerve location.
  • Intraoral scanner: captures an impression of the teeth without pastes and trays, creates a digital model for planning.
  • Microscope with 25× magnification: helps the doctor see fine details of the surgical field and work more precisely.
  • Digital X-ray: provides images with low radiation exposure and high resolution.
  • Planning software: allows modeling of implant placement and selection of the optimal position.

Surgical instruments and navigation

A surgical kit is used to place implants: scalpels, elevators, pins, taps, and wrenches. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The clinic uses surgical guides made from CT scan data. The guide is placed over the teeth, and the doctor drills the channel for the implant through its guide sleeves. This reduces the risk of deviation from the plan. A laser is also used: it is used to treat soft tissues and perform certain manipulations. The instruments are sterilized in class B autoclaves — this equipment is suitable for all types of instruments, including rotating handpieces.

How to prepare for implantation

Preparation for implantation consists of several stages that take place before surgery. They determine how the procedure will go and how the bone will heal. Preparation usually takes from a few days to a couple of months.

Examination and tests

  • Cone beam computed tomography: the scan is performed on a device with low radiation exposure to assess bone volume and density, the location of the maxillary sinuses and the mandibular nerve.
  • Examination and medical history: the doctor examines the condition of the teeth and gums, asks about chronic diseases and medications taken to rule out risks.
  • Blood tests: complete blood count, glucose, coagulation panel, HIV, hepatitis B and C — the list depends on health status and clinic policy.
  • Consultation with related specialists: for diabetes or heart disease, an endocrinologist's or cardiologist's opinion may be needed to decide on the safety of the procedure.

Oral sanitation and general recommendations

Before implantation, it is necessary to treat cavities and remove tartar. Inflammatory processes in the oral cavity increase the risk of infection of the socket after implant placement. Professional hygiene performed by a dental hygienist removes soft plaque and hard deposits that serve as a breeding ground for bacteria. If this is not done, the gum around the implant may become inflamed, which sometimes leads to implant failure. The doctor may also recommend giving up smoking a few weeks before surgery, since nicotine impairs blood supply to the tissues and slows down healing. A few days before the procedure, alcohol should be avoided. On the day of surgery, you should eat a good breakfast, unless general anesthesia is planned, and take the medications prescribed by the doctor, such as antibiotics to prevent infection. The exact list of recommendations depends on the clinical picture and the treatment plan drawn up by the doctor after the examination.

What is All-on-4 and when is it used

The All-on-4 technique is a method of prosthodontic restoration in which the entire dental arch is restored on four implants. It is used when there is complete absence of teeth in the jaw or in situations where the remaining teeth inevitably need to be extracted.

The principle of the All-on-4 technique

All-on-4 was developed by the Portuguese physician Paulo Maló in the 1990s. The name translates as "all on four": a fixed prosthesis that replaces all the teeth of the jaw is anchored on four implants. The two front implants are placed vertically, and the two rear implants at an angle of about 30–45 degrees. The tilt of the rear implants makes it possible to bypass areas where the bone is often atrophied — for example, the maxillary sinuses in the upper jaw and the inferior alveolar nerve in the lower jaw. This arrangement eliminates the need for sinus lift or bone grafting in most patients. The prosthesis is made of acrylic or ceramic with a metal or zirconia framework. It is attached to the implants with screws, so if necessary only the doctor can remove it. The load on the implants is distributed evenly, which is important for the stability of the structure. The technique makes it possible to fix a temporary prosthesis within a few days after surgery, but the final loading depends on the condition of the bone and the doctor's decision. The patient wears the temporary prosthesis while the implants heal — this period takes several months. The temporary prosthesis is then replaced with a permanent one.

Indications and limitations

  • Complete absence of teeth: when there are no teeth left in the jaw and a removable denture is uncomfortable or triggers a gag reflex.
  • Mobile teeth due to periodontitis: if teeth are loose and their extraction is unavoidable, All-on-4 allows replacing them right away.
  • Insufficient bone tissue: this technique often eliminates the need for bone grafting, but the decision is made by the doctor after a CT scan.
  • Intolerance to removable dentures: with pronounced discomfort from the denture base or impaired speech.
  • Contraindications: acute inflammatory processes, uncontrolled diabetes, active cancer, severe blood clotting disorders.
  • Smoking and poor hygiene: increase the risk of implant rejection, so lifestyle changes are required.

How much does it hurt and how long does healing take after implantation?

After implant placement, the sensations and recovery times depend on the complexity of the procedure and the individual reaction of the body. Let us describe the typical scenarios.

Pain and how long it lasts

Immediately after surgery, when the anesthesia wears off, a dull ache appears in the area of the procedure. This is a normal reaction of the tissues to trauma. It usually lasts from two to four days, gradually subsiding. The doctor prescribes painkillers that relieve the discomfort. Swelling and redness of the gum also subside within a week. Longer-lasting or increasing pain is a reason to see the doctor. The intensity of the sensations depends on the extent of the surgery: with immediate implantation combined with tooth extraction, the discomfort may be more pronounced than with the classic delayed technique. After a week, most patients return to their normal lives, and the gum heals completely within two to three weeks. But the final osseointegration of the titanium post takes several months, and during this period it is important to follow the doctor's recommendations.

Healing and osseointegration timelines

PeriodWhat happensRecommendations
Days 1–3Swelling, pain, discomfortCold compresses, painkillers, soft diet
Week 1Swelling subsides, sutures removedAntiseptic rinses, soft food
Weeks 2–4Soft tissue healingCareful brushing around the implant
Months 3–6Osseointegration, fusion with boneRegular check-ups, hygiene monitoring
After osseointegrationPlacement of the gum former and crownFollowing the doctor's recommendations

What to do after implantation and how to care for it?

After implant placement, the recovery period begins. Whether the structure integrates successfully depends on how you care for your oral cavity. The rules are simple but require discipline.

Care in the first days after surgery

  • Bleeding: bite down on a sterile gauze pad for 20–30 minutes. If bleeding continues, use a new pad and contact your doctor.
  • Swelling: apply cold to the cheek over the surgical area during the first day — 10–15 minutes every hour, no longer.
  • Pain: the doctor prescribes a painkiller; take it as directed, without waiting for severe pain.
  • Eating: do not eat for the first 3–4 hours, then soft food at room temperature, chew on the opposite side.
  • Hygiene: on the first day, do not brush your teeth in the surgical area; rinse gently, without vigorous movements.
  • Smoking and alcohol: avoid for at least 7–10 days; they slow healing and increase the risk of complications.

Long-term hygiene and follow-up

Once the implant has integrated, caring for it is not much different from caring for your natural teeth, but there are some nuances. Use a soft-bristled brush and a water flosser: it rinses away food debris from under the crown and around the gum. Use floss around the implant carefully, preferably a special superfloss. Regular professional hygiene at the clinic is needed at least twice a year: it removes plaque that cannot be removed at home. Once a year, a check-up X-ray is taken to assess the condition of the bone tissue. If you notice bleeding, swelling, or bad breath, do not wait for your scheduled visit — see your doctor. Following these rules reduces the risk of peri-implantitis — inflammation of the tissues around the implant, which can lead to its loss.

How long do implants last?

The lifespan of implants is one of the main questions before treatment. The answer depends on many conditions, and an honest prognosis is given by the doctor after an examination.

Lifespan and factors affecting it

Titanium implants placed today are designed to last for decades. Titanium does not break down in bone tissue, and the post itself can last a lifetime. But in practice, the lifespan of an implant depends on how the body responds to the procedure and how thoroughly the person cares for their oral cavity. The key factor is the condition of the bone at the time of placement. If there is not enough bone volume, the implant may fail to integrate or may last less time. The doctor assesses bone density and height using a CT scan and decides whether bone grafting is needed. The second factor is loading. An implant, like a natural tooth, does not tolerate overload: teeth grinding and the habit of biting hard objects shorten its lifespan. The third is hygiene. Plaque accumulates around the implant, just as around a tooth. If it is not removed, gum inflammation develops, which can lead to implant loss. That is why doctors say that an implant lasts a long time, but they do not promise specific numbers. The average periods cited in the literature are 15–20 years, but this is statistics, not a guarantee.

How to extend the lifespan

  • Hygiene: brush the implant twice a day, use a water flosser and interdental brushes to remove plaque around the crown.
  • Check-ups: visit the dentist every six months — the doctor will check the stability of the implant and the condition of the gums.
  • Loading: avoid chewing hard objects and grinding your teeth; for bruxism, the doctor may recommend a night guard.
  • General health: manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, as they affect healing and bone condition.
  • Quitting smoking: nicotine impairs blood supply to tissues, which increases the risk of inflammation around the implant.

Key points

Key decisions

Implantation consists of several decisions, and each is made by the doctor together with the patient. First, the implant system is chosen: premium brands such as Straumann or Nobel Biocare have a long history of use and a scientific base, while budget alternatives may be less studied. Then they decide whether bone grafting is needed: if there is not enough bone tissue, it is augmented, and this lengthens treatment by several months. Finally, they determine the type of prosthesis: a crown, a bridge, or a full reconstruction on four or six implants. Each option has indications, and there is no universal answer. The doctor assesses the clinical picture, bone density, the condition of neighboring teeth, and the budget. The patient should ask questions at the consultation: which implant is being offered, why that one, what lifespan is predicted, and what is included in the warranty. The clearer the expectations, the lower the risk of misunderstanding. Decisions are made jointly, and the final plan is fixed before treatment begins.

Expectations and reality

Implantation is not an instant restoration of teeth, but a process that takes from several months to a year. After implant placement, osseointegration occurs — the fusion of the titanium post with the bone, usually taking 3–6 months. During this period, the implant cannot be loaded with a permanent crown, so temporary restorations are placed. Patients often expect that there will be no pain or swelling after surgery, but these are normal reactions that subside within a few days. It is also important to understand: an implant is not a replacement for a living tooth; it has no ligament, so chewing pressure feels different, and some patients notice this. Longevity depends on hygiene and regular check-ups: with good care, implants last for decades, but the clinic's warranty is usually limited to 5 years. The reality is that the outcome of treatment is determined by many factors, and the doctor cannot promise a lifetime result. The patient's task is to follow the recommendations and attend preventive visits.

At first I just wanted to look around and compare prices. I can chew comfortably, nothing gets in the way. I had two implants placed, and both took. Strange, but I wasn't even tired after the appointment. Thank you (I couldn't believe it myself). The office is bright, the equipment is new — a small thing, but nice. The stitches were removed after ten days, and the swelling went down on the third. They gave the prices right away, nothing was added at the end, and that wins you over. In my opinion, the main thing is that they don't pressure you into a decision. The contract and receipt were provided without having to ask — that never happened anywhere before.

I put off getting an implant for four years because I was afraid of surgery. In reality, the whole thing took twenty minutes, and I was eating dinner that same evening. There was swelling for two days. The crown was placed four months later, and you can't tell it apart from my own tooth.
